Schedule & Topics

Get an insight to future outlook, market trends and opportunities for asset management in the industry today. Specifically, a member of senior management from J.P. Morgan will discuss the major challenges faced by one of the world’s leading asset managers, and the broad strategies being pursued in response to today’s unprecedented environment. This keynote will orientate delegates to the directed discussions happening in the panels throughout the conference.

Speaker / Senior Management, J.P. Morgan

In the past five years, EM debt has been something of an unloved asset class, whereas the developed markets have seen outsized returns, buoyed by low interest rates and quantitative easing policies. However, this is quickly rounding a corner, as the search for yield and uncertainty about central bank policy has led to a resurgence in emerging market inflows. In this panel, decision-makers of asset managers and fund houses discuss the renewed appeal of the emerging markets and what this means for the construction of various risk-balanced portfolios.

Panel / Senior Management Personnel

Over the past year, actively managed mutual funds recorded a net outflow of $316 billion, while index funds recorded a net inflow $409 billion. However, evidence has been growing that the market for index funds is quickly becoming saturated, to the extent that fears about liquidity and the efficient pricing of new investments have surfaced. The growth in demand for index funds has thus created new opportunities for alpha, and could potentially reverse the high performance of indexing strategies. Is there a bubble for index funds?
