Dr Petrina Tan is a Senior Consultant Ophthalmologist at Eagle Eye Centre who graduated on the Dean's List (Pathology) from the National University of Singapore in 2005. She attained Fellowships from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (FRCSEd) in 2013 and the Academy of Medicine, Singapore. She received the gold medal for being the top candidate in Glaucoma in her final specialist exams.
Dr Tan specializes in Oculofacial Plastic Surgery (droopy upper eyelid surgery, lower eyelid eyebags, eyelid malposition). She underwent local oculoplastic training at Tan Tock Seng Hospital as well as an intensive overseas fellowship training at Queen Victoria Hospital East Grinstead UK. QVH is well known for its plastic reconstructive unit as they have been involved with rehabilitation of burns patients since World War II. vel surgical techniques, including scar-less ptosis (droopy eyelid) repair and scar-less tear duct surgery. Asian patients have a greater tendency for post-operative inflammation and scarring. Scar-less surgeries, such as the posterior approach ptosis surgery and endoscopic dacryocystorhinostomy, are therefore particularly useful for Asians. She is committed to achieving good functional results and aesthetic outcomes for her patients. She has further honed her practice by combining different techniques and solutions in aesthetic medicine with oculoplastic surgery to achieve satisfactory outcomes for her patients. Keeping up to date with the latest developments in ophthalmology is also a priority for Dr Tan. She is active in research publications and has published widely in the field of rehabilitation of patients with facial nerve palsy, posterior approach ptosis surgery and dermal fillers.
Whilst not at work , one can find her chasing after tennis balls on the courts or after her chilren in the playgrounds.
